2009 Diary

I saw an interesting post in the Etsy Forums the other day. Fantazya, an Etsian from Canada is putting together a 2009 diary in which every page features a shop (Etsy or other). I thought this was soooo cool! When I checked what days were still available, I found my birthday! Whoo-hoo! So I just put together my page:

I started with my favorite thing -- yarn! Here's the photo in color (yummy):

I think it turned out pretty good, just like I imagined it.

There are still days available in the diary project (not many, though.) Interested parties can check here for more info.

The Surprises Continue...

I just finished a private Alchemy request from my good friend, ReFabulous, and as a consequence, a photo of the item showed up on the main Alchemy page under Recent Custom Creations! Free advertising! And let me tell you, it works. I noticed a spike in views and hearts, so hopefully that will lead to more sales!

Oh and here's a photo of the Alchemy request, which was larger scrubbies in a variety of colors:

I'm trying to also figure out why the last 2 orders I had were both from Europe (the order to France on Monday and today an order to Italy!!) What's different?? My only possible explanation is that I started a Dawanda site and they tracked me to Etsy (although I don't cross promote on those 2 sites). Is that even possible? Has anyone else come across something similar? Please share if you have...

2 Cool Surprises

The really nice thing about life is you never know when you will be surprised. Well, if you did know ahead of time, I guess it's not a surprise anymore.

Anyway, yesterday I was paging through the Etsy Gift Guides, and I found myself! Yay!!

And today I got an order from Paris. Not Paris, Texas. Not even Paris Hilton. Paris, France! How cool is that!

I posted new items yesterday. I've been working on new headbands and needle cases. I've also started lurking around Alchemy and placing bids on custom crochet items. Nothing has come of it yet, but I figure it doesn't hurt to get my shop out there. Crossing my fingers for another good surprise!

In the Beginning...

I've finally taken the blogging leap. I figure now is a good time. Summer's here, the boys are out of school, and in theory, I have a little extra time. Also, I love the date (06-07-08), so I find that to be a good sign. (You'll soon realize I'm a number freak.)

A little intro -- I'm married to a wonderful man, and we have 4 boys together. The boys are 12, 10, 7, and almost-2. I've been lucky enough to stay home and raise my boys. On the side, I run The Lavender Lizard my Etsy shop where I sell crocheted accessories and headbands, apparel, cozies, scrubbies, handmade supplies and occassionally, something my boys have made.

I'm also a yarn freak, ummm, collector, and I rarely travel anywhere without my latest project.

I've just realized that yesterday (June 6) is my one year Etsyversary, although I didn't list anything until July 11. In that time, I have sold over 200 items, which amazes me. I've shipped orders to Canada on several occasions, one just this week! And I've shipped two orders to the UK -- very exciting! Last month I created a special order of tape measure cozies, shown below, for a sweet woman in California, who is taking them as gifts to 6 women in Vietnam and Bangladesh, who sew to support their families. How awesome is that!

I belong to Etsy Texas Crafters , a superior Street Team numbering over 300 members that focuses on supporting Texans and Etsy. My team job is creating Spotlight Treasuries every week to showcase other ETCers. I really enjoy checking out the new shops!
I also belong to the Military Brats at Etsy Street Team. (I really should do more to support the Brats!) They are a great group of folks, and it's fun to discover what places (and bases) we have in common.

I'll surely post more later -- new projects and features and what goes on in general when you have a house full of boys and yarn. Thanks for visiting!
